Essential Eligibility Requirements

The 26th Annual Regatta & Paddle-a-thon event is NOT a guided trip and requires a higher level of experience and ability than traditional trips offered through ETC. If you do not currently meet the minimum requirements for paddling in the Regatta and Paddle-a-thon, please consider calling ETC to register for one of their guided group kayaking trips.

Note a "PFD" is a "Personal Floatation Device," sometimes referred to as a "life vest" or "life jacket".

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS All participants must: Have prior experience sea kayakiing with ETC or Sea Trek. If you have other experience kayaking, your participation in the Regatta and Paddle-a-thon must be approved by ETC or Sea Trek. Be 18 years of age or older, or have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate. Be able to reach event area alone or with the assistance of a companion. Be able to manage all personal care and mobility independently or with the assistance of a companion who accompanies the participant. Volunteers will be available to assist with mobility needs on the beach (for instance with transfers, etc). Be able to breathe independently without any medical assistive devices. Be comfortable in the water including: floating on back independently with a properly fitted PFD, turning from face down to face up independently while wearing a properly fitted PFD, and holding breath while under water.
